They used to call Darren Anderton (England international footballer) Sicknote due to injuries sustained during his football career (though he had time to score a World Cup goal against Colombia). Well, I picked up the flu bug last week (and I had a very mild fever too) so a combination of rest & recreation was the order of the day. I actually had a sicknote/medical cert for Friday but elected to go to work anyway. I had my quality sleep over the weekend – hey, I take my recovery very seriously. 😛
- Night swim – I went for a night swim on Wednesday (that exacerbated the flu) and picked up a calf cramp when I was on my final 7th lap. Since that occurred at the deep end, I had to paddle my way to the side.
- SWIFT ISO 15022 Corporate Actions Messages – I attended this classroom training and I enjoyed it immensely. SWIFT provides a network that enables financial institutions worldwide to send and receive information about financial transactions in a secure, standardised & reliable environment (thank you Wikipedia). It is a ‘glam factor’ in bank ops work.
- Christmas celebrations at work – My HK Sub-Custody Corporate Actions team held a Christmas party and Secret Santa gift exchange. I received a Starbucks mini blocks from my line manager (the one I had a crush on). My gift (dot-to-dot activity book for adults) went to a Chinese female work colleague and I hope she’s getting addicted to it. There was also a Christmas luncheon (complete with a gingerbreadman) and each staff got a box of chocolates as a year-end token of appreciation.
- Friday night – I went out with my sister, my romantic interest & a few friends to the nearby hilltop restaurant. The night time view of my town’s skyline was remarkable as always.
- Bringing a girl to my apartment – I brought my romantic partner to my apartment. The apartment boys weren’t around and my cousin went out to give us our private time. It took some time before we became fully intimate, but when we did so, we were very very passionate.
I just came back from a function where we honoured an ex-national walker. Turns out he is a late starter, venturing into the sport when he was already 26. It gives me motivation to carve out a sports career for myself. I better make use of the opportunities that come my way.
